He was born May 3, 1927, at St. Charles and was a retired capenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Cleo and Esther Mae Williams Metzger; two sons, William Cleo Metzger and Robert Lee Metzger; and daughter, Joyce Ann Metzger.

Survivors included his wife, Evelyn Virginia (Asbury) Metzger of Lamar; sons, Thomas Edward Metzger of Arizona, Danny and wife Kathy Clayborn, of Lamar, Jackie Clayborn of Lamar and Charles and wife Linda Napier of Houston, Texas; daughters, Barbara Jean Metzger Wright of Arizona, Lavina Bethany Metzger of Arizona, Diane and husband Richard Fox, of Clarksville, and Terry Stone of Lamar; brother, Edward Cleo and wife Deloris Metzger of Oklahoma; twenty-nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Broussard Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, with Bro. Leon Holt officiating.

Burial followed at Minnow Creek Cemetery in Lamar.

Pallbearers were Mike Asbury, Rick Fox, Arron Fox, Kenny Jenkins, Roy Clayborn, Terry Stone and mychael Roberts. Honoary pallbearers were Danny Clayborn, Jackie Clayborn, Charles Napier and Richard Fox.

Arrangements were handled by Broussard.
