The following story is taken from the book of the Temple Family written by Elmer Edwin Temple, printed in 1973.
William H Temple born August 25, 1838 in Davidson, Co Tn, son of Roderick and Mary (Lee) Temple. William came to Ar Crawford, Co with his mother and family about 1850. He enlisted in the army on July 1, 1862 as a volunteer and private under Capt James Allison, Co D First Regiment of Ark Cavalry. He was discharged Aug 1839 at Fayetteville, Ar. Married about 1866 or 1867 to Winnie McCaslin born 1839 in Ar Daughter of Rachell and David McCaslin both born in Tn David died in 1880. Both were members of the Methodist Church. David, a minister, died singing "A Charge To Keep I Have". Both were buried in Crawford Co, Ar north of Rudy in the Morrison Cemetery. William H and Winnie lived north of Rudy until death. William died in the winter of 1916 or 1917 and Winnie died 63 hours later. They were the parents of two children, William Harrison and Mary.
