Last rites for Fred Andersen, 64, of Independence, MO, were held at 2PM Tuesday at the Fairview Methodist Church with Rev. Robert B. Howerton officiating, assisted by Rev. Harry Jowett.
Mr. Andersen, former postmaster and merchant at Buford, died Saturday in an Independence hospital following an extended illness.
He was born August 26, 1893, in Newton, Iowa and was the son of the late Andrew and Gladys McBroom Andersen. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Andersen; four sons, Hal and Gerald of Independence, MO, Dale of Kansas City, MO and Stanley of the US Navy; three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Chapman and Mrs. Louise Bolin, both of Kansas, and Mrs. Mildred Chapman of Arnda WA; two brothers, Ralph Andersen of Iowa and Carl Andersen of Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs. Beula Altiner and Mrs. Gertrude Keeman and Mrs. Hanna Banhart, all of Iowa and 19 grandchildren.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery. Roller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
