FELLERS, Seward F. - Word was received Friday by D.W. Fellers of West Poplar St. of the death of his son, Seward F. Fellers, at Camp Cody, N.M. where he was a member of Co. C, 135th Minnesota Inf. Death was the result of pneumonia and measles. He had been sick for some time and Mr. Fellers went to Deming to be with him, returning on December 22nd with the assurance of the camp physicians that his son was out of danger. He would have remained longer but was unable to secure accommodations and had to sleep on a porch while there. The son visited in Rogers often with the family which came here several years ago and bought Mrs. Ellis' place but was known to only a few of our people here. His death has been a great blow to the family and they have the sympathy of the community. When the news of the death was received the first of the week it was expected that the body would reach Rogers Tuesday morning and the funeral was set for that afternoon at the First M.E. church. Mayor Nance issued a proclamation asking that all stores close for the funeral and that our people join in honoring the memory of the first Rogers boy who has died in camp or in the service of the country. Owing to some unknown delay the body was not shipped from Deming until Tuesday and it is expected that it will be here Saturday morning. Funeral arrangements will be deferred until a definite announcement can be made.

Owing to the storm and the late arrival of the body of Seward F. Fellers who died a week previous at Camp Cody, N.M., the funeral was held Sunday at the home of the parents on West Poplar St. at 2:30 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. G.G. Yeoman of the First M.E. church and over one hundred friends and neighbors were present. The body arrived in Rogers Saturday evening.
