Freddie Wright, 34, of Cedar Hill, TX, formerly of Crossett, died Saturday, February 2, 2002, at the Charlton Methodist Hospital in Desoto, TX. A native of Ashley County, but a resident of Cedar Hill for the past year, he was dock manager of Seconds and Surplus. He was a 1986 graduate of Hamburg High School and attended Southern Arkansas University, playing basketball for the Muleriders for four years. A member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, he was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Wright, in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Wright; one son, Frederick Wright of Cedar Hill, TX; his father, James Wright of Hamburg; four brothers, Frankie Wright of Hamburg, Kenny Wright of Little Rock, Jessie Wright of Dermott and John Wright of Crossett; and one sister, Marilyn Hubbard of Hamburg.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 9, in the Hamburg High School gymnasium with Eld. Kenny Wright officiating. Pallbearers were Walter Jenkins, Clinton Williams, Jonathan Young, Robert Scates, Kirt Harris, Willie Robinson, Marvin Walter and Brandon Noble. Honorary pallbearers were James, John, Jessie and Frankie Wright, Harris Armstrong, Jr., Graylin Armstrong and Bobo Hubbard.
Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
