Mr. Morris Singleton, 70, of Lake Village, formerly of Hamburg, died Monday, March 1, 1999, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A native of Ashley County and a retired farm laborer, he was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lena Singleton; two brothers, Johnny and Richard Singleton; two sisters, Isabella Shaw and Mildred Davis; and a daughter, Shirley Ann Singleton. Survivors are two sons, Steve Phifer of Chicago, IL, and George Singleton of Lake Village; three daughters, Juanita M. Singleton Stoneville of Lake Village, Rachell "Pat" Singleton and Pamela Singleton of Chicago; four brothers, J. T. Singleton of Detroit, MI, Mose Singleton of Austin, TX, Percy Singleton of Indio, CA, and Willie Hill of Hamburg; two sisters, Eula V. Bridges of Crossett and Truversie Brown of Pine Bluff; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, in the Cromwell Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Danny Mays officiating. Pallbearers were Y. T. Singleton, Curtis Singleton, Levell Stanley, Ray Stanley, T. J. Johnson and Leroy Stoneville. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Bates and Willie Hill. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery.
