Richard Aron Turney, 60, of Stuttgart died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock.
Rick was born April 13, 1952, in Forrest City to Samuel A. Turney and Mary Elizabeth McCarty Turney. He was a 1970 graduate of Hazen High School and was a truck driver until his health forced his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many a day hunting, fishing and camping.
Frequently, Rick would return home with a full stringer to give away to family and friends just to return to his favorite fishing hole to repeat the process. If he wasn’t on the river, Rick would be in the woods hunting deer, rabbit and squirrel, keeping his freezer fully stocked at all times. He was of the Baptist faith.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Turney, and nephew, Sam Turney.
Survivors are his mother, Mary Turney of Stuttgart; daughters, Stephanie Turney Tiner (Mark) of DeValls Bluff, Sarah Turney Neighbors (Jason) of Stuttgart and Amanda Jo Turney of Sherwood; sisters, Darla Turney Harb (Mike) of Little Rock and Linda Turney Shadwick (Bobby) of Ulm; grandson, Stevan Sowell of DeValls Bluff; granddaughters, Mollie Tiner of DeValls Bluff and Zoe Merritt and Amelia Neighbors of Stuttgart; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Graveside services, officiated by Pastor Don White, are 2 p.m. Friday at Lone Tree Cemetery chapel by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
