Mr. John Thomas "Scrap Iron" Moore, 90, of Hamburg died Tuesday, January 26, 1999, at the Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. A native of Union County and a Hamburg resident since 1952, he was a former resident of Lake Village, a retired timber worker and truck driver and a member and deacon of the Bethlehem Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his mother, Callie Price Watkins; three sisters, two brothers and one stepchild. Survivors include his wife, Christine Johnson Moore of Hamburg; two sons, Johnny Cal and Kenneth Moore of Hamburg; a daughter, Tina Marie Courtney of Mississippi; four stepdaughters, Lora Adams of Hamburg, Magdalene Flowers of Lake Village, and Laura and Gladys Miller of Kansas City, KS; three stepsons, Williams Webster of Chicago, IL, Louis White of Kansas City and Horace M. Jones of Liberal, KS; and many grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 30, in the Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness with Revs. Robert F. Adams, Jr., and Jessie Mae Goodwin officiating. Pallbearers were Jessie Parker, Edward Brown, David Thomas, Faith Johnson, Chris Douglas, Billy Bassett, Bo Stanley and Willie Gulley. Honorary pallbearers were his sons. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
