Mrs. Lucy Mae Tucker Mason, 87 of Jena, LA, formerly of Hamburg, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the LaSalle General Hospital in Jena. A native of Lacey, a resident of Hamburg for 60 years, and a resident of Jena for the past 10 years, she was a retired custodian for the Hamburg School District and a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness.
She is survived by three sons, Cal and wife Ora Tucker, Chris and wife Katherine Tucker and James Tucker, all of Hamburg; four daughters, Sue Gibbs of Jena, Annette and husband Fred Davis of Winnfield, LA, Maxine and husband Norman Shaw of Little Rock and Marva and husband Alan Gumberl of Memphis, TN; one sister, Ollie Mae Bolton of Ruston, LA, thirty-one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.B. Mason; one son, Jimmy Wade Tucker; one daughter, Agnes Nadine Hubbard; her parents, Simon & Hattie Lambert Spencer; and three sisters, Dollie Gilliam, Florence Spencer and Lola Faye Simmons.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 16, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. Robert Adams, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers were Henry Bernard Gibbs, Gregory Gibbs, Chan Tucker, Beryl L. Morgan, Kenneth H. Gumbel and Corey Paskel. Honorary pallbearers were sons and sons-in-law. Burial was in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the directions of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
