Christopher Lenard Lewis, 21, of Hamburg died Saturday, July 9, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, he was an employee of Barnes Hardwood Flooring Mill and a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church. He was a 2001 graduate of Hamburg High School.
Survivors include one son, JaQuardius Lewis of Hamburg; one daughter, Trinity Lewis of Hamburg; his mother and her husband, Edith and Theodore Simpkins of Dumas; his great-grandmother, Annie Mae Hubbard of Lake Village; his step-grandmother, Ester Simpkins of Dumas; three brothers, Carl T. Lewis of Hamburg, Lexie Lewis of Crossett and Tavares "Tidy Bowl" McNeil of St. Louis, MO;. and three sisters, Bridget R. Lewis and Linda F. Hill, both of Hamburg, and Juanita Booker of Gary, IN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl "Raymond" Lewis; one sister, Marie Jackson; and his grandparents, Thomas Hubbard and Robert and Clemmie Davis.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with Elder Alfonson Madden officiating. Burial will follow services at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are to be Johnny Grayson, Timothy Mays, Timothy Mooney, Cedric Jenkins, Larry Works and Marvin Walton. Honorary pallbearers are to be Mike Reed, Dwight Tippie, Cannon Watkins, Chris Scott and the Hamburg High School class of 2001.
