Fate Johnson, II, 91, of Hamburg died Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. A native of Ashley County and a former resident of California, he had lived in Hamburg for the past 23 years. He was a retired janitor and a member of the Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Doris Mae Johnson; four sons, James and Calvin Johnson of Las Vegas, NV, Melvin Johnson of Washington, D. C., and Richard Johnson of Moreno Valley, CA: five daughters, Shirley Lee, Juanita Johnson and Chisteen Johnson, all of Moreno Valley, Clarissa Johnson of Hamburg and Bobbie Johnson of Los Angeles; CA; one brother, Clinton Johnson of Dermott; and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fate and Willie Todd Johnson; two brothers, Willie and Robert Johnson; and one sister, Alma Maker.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the Cromwell Funeral Home chapel with Eld. Jasper Mays officiating. Pallbearers are to be Lawrence, Glenn, Ray and Robert Stanley, Jeffrey Donnell and Byron Lee. Burial will follow at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery. Guest book at cromwellfuneralhome.net.
