Johnny Gene Jasper, 73, of Hamburg died Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. A native of Gould, a 26 year resident of Oakland, CA, and a resident of Hamburg for the past 28 years, he was a retired catfish farm worker and roofer. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness where he served as chairman of the deacon ministry.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Florene McQuay Jasper; six sons, Johnny Jasper, Jr., of Pomona, CA, Bobby Jasper of Gulfport, MS, Earnest Jasper and Jason Jasper of Oakland, Charlie Walker of Little Rock and Bryston Eugene "B.J." Jasper of Hamburg; three daughters, Dominique Morris of Arkadelphia, Kearston McQuay of Hamburg and Farahatiyata Jasper* of Oakland;, his mother, Elizabeth Wade of Oakland; one brother, Nehemiah Jasper, Jr., of Newalla, OK; one sister, Lizzie Wright of Oakland; and a host of grandchildren, relatives and loved ones. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Jasper, and his father, Nehemiah Jasper.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Bethlehem Church of Christ Holiness with Eld. Robert Adams, Jr., officiating. Visitation is from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Cromwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Lee Troy Ware, Ray Stanley, Cliff Hawkins, Johnny Lee Hampton, Glenn Stanley and Lawrence Stanley. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery.
