HORNBECK, Fanny A. CONINE - Mrs. Fanny Conine Hornbeck was born in Butler county, Kansas August 10, 1873. On June 10, 1887, when she was at the age of fourteen years, her parents moved to Bentonville. For nearly twenty years she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Bentonville. She was exceedingly faithful to her church. Her fine character and practical Christian life made her an invaluable helper in the cause. She had greatly endeared herself to this entire community. She was a genuine friend to all classes. Her tongue inflicted no injury on any one. Her sympathy and help was freely extended to all who needed it. She has won not only the esteem but the affection of the people. On the 22nd of February 1907 she was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Leroy Hornbeck of Phelps, N.Y. and returned with him to his home. She was very happy in her married life and leaves a little son, Wm. Gordon Hornbeck. About six weeks ago she underwent an operation which seemed to be necessary. At the first all went well but in a few days it became evident that all was not well. After a lingering illness of six weeks she passed away December 23rd at 6:20 p.m., aged thirty-six years, four months and thirteen days. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon, December 26th. Her husband, with his mother and an uncle of Phelps, N.Y. were present. Also her own father and mother, two brothers and relatives. A large crowd was in attendance and many followed to the grave where we laid her body to rest until the resurrection. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all those who have suffered this great loss. W.S. Baker.
