Valerie Joann Holt, 38, died at her home in Crossett on Tuesday, May 4, 1999. A native of Oak Grove, LA, she was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by a son, Akido Holt; her father, Curley Anderson; and a sister, Dashunda McQuay. Survivors include a son, Rodney K. Holt of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter, Rekeithia Holt of Los Angeles; her mother, Eva Jean McQuay Johnson of Crossett; six brothers, Elbert Holt of Newark, OH, Cedric Holt of Midway Park, NC, Willie McQuay of Star City, Fredrick McQuay of Crossett, and Barron Ware and Curtis Anderson of Little Rock; and a sister, Sonya McGhee of Biloxi, MS. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the Emmanuel Church of God in Christ with Bishop Danny Mays officiating. Pallbearers were Mariel and Vincent Holt, Eric Newman, Tony Culverson, Dessirick Holt, Donnie Culverson, Ted Brown and Terry Knight. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Barnett, Jerry Collins and Dewayne Pugh. Burial followed services at the Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
