James "Big Daddy" Holt, 21, of Hamburg died Friday, May 4, 2007, in a vehicle accident on Highway 425 south of Monticello. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, he was a senior at the University of Arkansas-Monticello, an employee of Sonic of Hamburg and a member of Christ Temple Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his mother, Rose Mary Holt of Hamburg; his father, Elbert "Franco" Holt of Newark, OH; one brother, Quincy Holt of Hamburg; his step-grandfather, Ray Willie McQuay of Vicksburg, MS; step-grandmother of Oak Grove, LA; and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Johnnie Watkins, Lucien Brown and Eva Jean McQuay.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Christ Temple Pentecostal Church with Bishop Alfonso Madden officiating. Burial was to follow at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers were to be Steven Griever, Rob Barnes, Brent Harrod, Shawn Wilson, Jake Keith, Markus Hoskie, La Shane Savage and Tim Mooney. Honorary pallbearers were to be members of the Hamburg High School Class of 2003.
