Mr. Robert Cox, 78, of Hamburg died Sunday, February 3, 2002, at his home in Hamburg. A lifelong resident of Hamburg, he was a retired log truck driver and a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Shirley Faye and Sandra Kaye Cox, and his parents, Alex and Geneva Duncan Cox.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mrs. Mardell Cox; three sons, Carl James Cox of Crossett, and Robert Cox, Jr., and Michael Cox of Hamburg; five daughters, Marcella Wilson, Linda Tolefree, Mary Brown and Debra Fisher of Hamburg and Wanda Daniels of Fountain Hill; two sisters, Annie Mae Cox of Lake Village and Minnie Rucker of Hamburg; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 7, in the Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. W. R. Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Hall, Thurman Bradley, Cornelius Girtman, Jr., R. D. Morgan, Lonnie Walker and Earnest Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons and trustees of the church.
Burial followed services at the Johnson Cemetery, directed by Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
