James Lon Arnold, son of the late Homer and Audie Arnold, was born Sept. 6, 1947, in Zion, Ark. He died Jan. 14, 2009, in Batesville, Ark., at the age of 61.
He was united in marriage to Lisa Dover on July 16, 2005, in Mt. Olive, Ark. Jay worked many years in the grocery business in Horseshoe Bend as a co-owner and managing partner of Foodway's. He was also a former business partner in Beaver Creek Outfitters hunting service in Colorado, where he participated in providing guide services on the Beaver Creek hunting lease. Most recently, he retired as a lieutenant with the North Central Arkansas Correctional Facility in Calico Rock, Ark.
He attended the Horseshoe Bend Assembly of God church.
He is survived by: his wife, Lisa Ann Arnold of Melbourne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Anne and James Bratz of Branson, Mo., and Stephanie Rachael and Ronald Douglas Horton Jr. of Cooper City, Fla.; one son, Dalton Wayne Wallace of Glencoe; four grandchildren, Lauren Danielle Bratz and James T. Bratz II of Branson, and Rachel Lynn Horton and Rebekah Leigh Horton of Cooper City; two stepchildren, Alyxandra Lynn Wallace of Glencoe and Jed Schales of Melbourne; two brothers, Wesley Arnold (wife Marie) of Franklin and Larry Arnold ( wife Sandra) of Little Rock; two sisters, Euna Mae Herron (husband Charles Bullard) of Franklin and Marie Bailey King (husband Maurice Walker) of Franklin and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one sister, Christine Bussard.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at the Horseshoe Bend Assembly of God Church with Pastor Berlen Walker officiating. Burial followed at Roberts Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Memorials may be made to offset burial expenses to: Marie King, HC 80 Box 40, Franklin, AR 72536.
Pallbearers were Levarn Herron, Frank Herron, Lyle Sanders, Lonnie Bailey, Brian Bussard and Aaron Bussard.
