Pekin - Melvin Green, 56, of Timbo, Ark., formerly of Pekin, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at his home.

Melvin was born Jan. 17, 1953, in Pekin, Ill., to Sparlin Buck and Gladys Jean (Webb) Green.

He loved his Savior.

He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.

He was retired from Caterpillar Inc., and was an active member of the UAW union.

He loved hunting, fishing and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly S. Green, of the home; one son, Scott Ashley; five daughters, Sherri Hardt, Stormi Green, Shiloh Green, Brandee Starnes and Darlene Louthan; brother, Kirk Green of Pleasant Plains; sister, Vickie Hawkins of Pekin, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Gladys Green; one sister, Loretta Green; a brother, Rockford Green; and a nephew, Tony Green.

Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Ark. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, with Bro. Joey Bryant officiating, and interment in Red Doors Cemetery in Mountain View. Pallbearers are Letus Avey, Andy Avey, Josh Avey, Tim Hardt, Fred Begner and Scott Ashley. Honorary pallbearer is Kermit Taylor. Roller Crouch Funeral Home, Mountain View, is in charge of the arrangements.
