Ms. Zelma Maynard, 87, of Conway, died Friday (Jan. 4, 2002) at the home of her daughter Mrs. Neta Halter.

Born July 7, 1914, in Jackson, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John T. and Gertrude Schultz Nicholson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Charles Maynard, fondly known as "Leo," her parents, sisters Velma, Fannie Mae and Della; brothers Melvin, Willis, Paul and Orvill; half brother David; and daughter Mary Nell Sharp of Portage, Ind.

Survivors are a daughter, Neta Halter and husband Ferdinand of Conway; six grandchildren, Reba Ann Sharp and Danny Sharp, both of Portage, Ind., Angela Johnson and husband Mike of Vilonia, David Halter and wife Vicki of Conway, Rebecca Blevins and husband Danny of Vilonia and Rita Thomas and husband Jimmy of Yankton, S.D.; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Jennifer Sharp, Tyler Johnson, Zayne Johnson, Austin Johnson, Marinna Thomas, Haylee Halter and Matthew Blevins; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Hollie and Michael Blevins.

Zelma was baptized in 1945 at the Brown Community Church of Christ in Craighead County and most recently until her illness attended the Mars Hill Church of Christ in Vilonia.

Services for Ms. Maynard will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Griffin Leggett-Conway funeral home with Bro. Ted Knight, Bro. Jerry Riley and Roger Dale Pearce officiating. Burial will be in the Vilonia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Harrington, JD Pearce, Howard Pearce, Grady Mills, Pat Pearce and Leon Hegi. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Pearce, Mike Mills and Charlie Mills.
