Silas Jefferson Shepherd, 76, Winslow died April 29 in Springdale Memorial Hospital. Born June 12, 1901, in Crawford County, he was the son of Dillard and Lou Tillery Shepherd. He was a retired logger.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ivy Evans Shepherd of the home; one son, Dillard Shepherd of Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight stepsons, Hoyt Cartwright of Neosho, Mo., Holbert Cartwright of Prairie Grove, Alvis Fox of West Fork, Delbert Shepherd of Crosses, Arlis Shepherd of Winslow, J.H. Shepherd of Wichita, Kan., George and Jim Shepherd of Springdale; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Hazel Shackelford of Springdale; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Fields of Springdale and Mrs. Dolly Smith of LaHabra, Calif.; three brothers, Johnny Shepherd of Crosses, Tommy Shepherd of Prairie Grove and Paul Shepherd of Winslow; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Temple Hill Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Doyle Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Temple Hill Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home.
