FARMINGTON — James Earl Moore, 93, of Farmington died Friday, May 16, 2008, at the Fayetteville Veterans Home. He was born July 3, 1914, the son of Harvey Charles and Mary Jane McCown Moore.
He was retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Moore was an Army veteran, serving as a medic in World War II. While serving, he was awarded five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal, Purple Heart and Bronze Star medal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Bell Barker Moore; a sister, Pearl Moore; and two granddaughters, Luvena Moore and Lisa Moore.
Survivors include his sister, Sarah Hutchens, and several nieces and nephews; one daughter, Patsy Kester and her husband, David, of Springdale; four sons, Leon Moore and his wife, Rose, of Farmington; Henry Moore and his wife, Cathy, of Topeka, Kan., William "Bill" Moore and Nancy of Elkins, Jerry Moore of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Troy Moore of Fayetteville, Juneva and Chris Petersen of Farmington, Beckie Moore of Farmington, James and Shannon Moore of Topeka, Kan., Vanessa and David Schafer of Maryland, Adam Moore and his fiancee, Stacey Alvarado, of Fayetteville; two great-grandchildren, Halley Moore of Kingsport, Tenn., and Christian Petersen of Farmington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel, mooresfuneralchapel.com.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Nazarene in Farmington. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
