SACRAMENTO, Calif. — One of five siblings, Mary Lou Criner was born Mary Lou Butts in Drumright, Okla., on Nov. 17, 1921, and died peacefully on April 14, 2008, at Sacramento, after a very sudden and short illness. Her two loving children, Carol Armstrong and Tom Armstrong, both of Sacramento, were by her side at the time of her death and will miss her terribly.

Mary is survived by her brothers, J.L. Butts of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Bill Butts of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; a sister, Laurene Lannom of Medford, Ore.

Mary was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Butts of Houston.

Her brothers and sister were very important to her and Mary dearly loved them. Many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends also will miss Mary. Among them, Becky Personius/Lancaster, Billie Sigwing, Josephine Butts, Cheryl Orr, Mike Lannom, Donna Dixon, Diane Lannom, Barbara Nowell and all of their children and spouses.

Mary so loved secretarial work that she did not fully retire until 80 years old. Her most recent job was with the California Department of Education. She loved family gatherings, dancing, music, books, gardening, word puzzles and she enjoyed writing poetry and song lyrics.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Bentonville Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.
