H. Lyon Day, age 80, of Cherokee Village, died March 10 at his home on #1 Sequoyah Ridge Road. He was born February 1, 1900, in Ogdensburg, St Lawrence County, N.Y., a son of the late Eldridge Lyon and Winona Stockwin Day. He was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy, Drexell Institute, and Lehigh University. He was chief metallurgist for Halcomb Street, Syracuse, N.Y. and Ingersoll-Rand of Phillipsburg, N.J., and was retired from Auto Specialties Manufacturing Co., St. Joseph, Mich., where he worked in the same position. He was married to the former Mildred Wakefield, August 9, 1930, in Winfield, N.Y. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa, the Cherokee Village Golf Club and the Spring River Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home, one son, [name withheld] of Canoga Park, California; two grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 12, 2 PM at the Spring River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lyndon Jackson officiating. Cremation will follow, and the cremains will be interred in the Wakefield family plot in New York, with Higginbotham Funeral Services in charge of arrangements.
