Corporal Dixon was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 15, 1951 and died while a prisoner on June 30, 1951. His remains were not recovered. Corporal Dixon was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
