MELBOURNE — Lorene Reed Neal, 89, of Melbourne died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Calico Rock.
Born July 3, 1919, in Newburg, she was the daughter of Lee and Josie Clark Reed. She was united in marriage to Erskle Neal on Sept. 21, 1940, in Newburg. She was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne.
Survivors include a son, Ernie Neal of Melbourne; a daughter, Melda Phipps of Melbourne; two grandchildren, Steven Phipps and Gina Hughes; and six great-grandchildren, Matthew Crozier, Lindsey Phipps, Travis Phipps, Faith Hughes, Kendra Hughes and Nate Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Curtis Borden Reed; and a sister, Maxine Smith.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Belview Baptist Church with Raymon Carneal officiating. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers will be Clovis Vest, Rick Knowles, Wayne Hopper, Paul Phipps, John Smith and Kenneth Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Roy Bookout, Tom Phipps, Dean Phipps, Gale Phipps, Carl Phipps Jr., Jerry Phipps and Jerry Blankenship.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
