Tommy "Tucker" Wing
Tommy “Tucker” Wing, 76, of Gepp passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, in Mountain Home.
He was born February 8, 1937, in West Lake, Louisiana to the late Dalton Joseph and Anna Pillie Wing. Tommy was a Corporal in the United States Army. He relocated to the family farm in Gepp in 1959 from West Lake, Louisiana. After his military service he was a ferry boat pilot on Norfork Lake for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department for 10 years. Tommy was the owner of Wing’s Quail for 10 years and a cattle farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson. He was a school board member of the Viola Public Schools for several years and had served as president. Tommy was an avid hunter and especially loved foxhound hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 47 years, Truda Wing; a brother, Bud Wing and two grandchildren, Michael Tackitt and Tori Taffar.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Liles Wing of Gepp; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorry and Larry Harris of Gepp, Deborah and Kenny Tackitt of Alton, Missouri and Cindy and Terry Johnson of Henderson; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Daniel and Brandy Liles of Mountain Home; a step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Amanda and Brett Perry of Mountain Home; two sisters, Alene Closky and Vera Mobley, both of West Lake, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren, Dara McCullough, Tommy, Shana, Elaine and Joni K. Taffar, Angela Turner, Rebecca Hurtt, Dustin and Brent Tackitt, Selena Johnson, Kaleb Johnson; two step grandchildren, Brooke and Kennedy Liles; three great grandchildren, Aleah Bates and Dyllin and Traben Hurtt and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be J.A. Walker, Donnie Gene Walker, Junior Hickman, Bo Renfro, Tim Adams and Harold Dean Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hubbell, Dustin Tackitt, Brent Tackitt, Kaleb Johnson, Angela Turner, Dara McCullough, Rebecca Hurtt and Selena Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Henderson.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday at the First Baptist Church Henderson with Brother Charles Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Custer-Herron Cemetery near Henderson under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a charity of the donor’s choice.
