LINTON, Anna M. SMITH - Anna M. Smith was born in Switzerland county, Ind. October 2, 1866. When she was about fifteen years old the family moved to Kansas where she was married to Ellsworth J. Linton May 1, 1886. To this union five children, all boys, were born, only two of whom grew to manhood. Both of these, Marion, who lives in Alaska, and Joseph Ray, who lives in Omaha, Neb., survive her. When only eleven years old she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, with which organization she remained affiliated until her death. She was a consistent Christian, especially helpful in time of sickness and suffering. Her faith in humanity was great. She always believed well of those she met unless the contrary was proved. During her last ailment, which had been growing upon her for at least two years, she remained cheerful and helpful, and died in the faith of her childhood. At different times she lived in and about Rogers, her residence here aggregating a number of years. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Smith, of North Fifth street, are both living, tho in the later seventies. Mrs. Linton was their last child, their other daughter, Mrs. F.H. Duff, having died Feb. 13, 1917. It is something of a coincidence that almost the first act of Rev. Yeoman of the First M.E. church after coming here, was to preach the funeral sermon of the younger sister and that just before leaving the pastorate his last work was to perform a similar service for the elder. Interment was made in the Rogers cemetery on Friday last, the body having been brought here from Omaha. At her death, which occurred September 30th, she lacked two days of being 53 years old. E.J. Linton, her sorrowing husband, returned to Omaha Sunday evening. The sympathy of many friends is extended to him and mourning relatives.

Eva Laura Smith was born near Bennington, Switzerland Co., Ind. October 23, 1868 and died in Rogers February 13, 1917. Funeral services were held at the First M.E. church yesterday afternoon at two o'clock and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Yeoman. In 1881 she went with her parents to Kansas and on June 19, 1892 she was married at Clay Center, that state, to Fenton H. Duff, who survives her. For the past eleven years she has lived in Benton county and for the past four years in Rogers. At the early age of eight years she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, in whose faith she has just died. To her religion was an unquestioned reality to be lived seven days each week. Never strong of body and often on a sick bed, her patience and sweetness of temper were an encouragement to those around her. Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. M. Smith, and her sister, Mrs. E.J. Linton.
