Seth E. Matthews husband of Cora Bell* (Hooser) Matthews. Seth E Matthew son of Sidney C Matthews and Molly J. (Jones) Matthews. Cora Bell (Hooser) Matthews daughter of James Dawson and Sarah Jane Harris Hooser.
Seth was a very community minded citizen. He served on the Calico Rock city council, the school board and was mayor for several years. He was devoted to his family and supported them in all ways. He took his granddaughter into his home and raised her as his own, giving her guidance and advise to serve her entire life. He was respected by all that knew him and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two daughters, Irma Eudale Baker (Hugh) and Daisy Seth Bonham; one son, Sidney Clay Matthew (Lillie); six grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Norman and Fern Norman; one brother, Cadamus Matthews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

She lived her entire life in Izard and Baxter Counties. Raising three children she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one son.

Cora Matthews, age 86, of Wichita, Kansas, died July 29, 1973, in Kansas.
She spent several years in Izard County.
Survivors include two daughter, Daisy Pearson of Kansas and Irma Baker of Mt. Home; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, one sister, Elizabeth Brown of Springfield, MO.
Funeral service was Wednesday, August 1, at 2PM in Calico Rock Methodist Church with Bro. Burl Long officiating.
Interment in the Pineville Cemetery with arrangements by Howard's Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were; Ray Von Cantrell, Merl, Bagwell, Terry Jones, Emmett Whitten, Tip Wiseman, and Perry Matthews.
*monument contains an error on her name pointed out by grand-daughter, Mary Jones. Also of note the printed obituary had an incorrect date which I edited but the original obituary had it as 1933.
