Calvin is the eldest son of George P and Sarah Downs Luther.
Calvin married (1) Sarah Jane Tinnin and had one son and three daughters. Married (2)Catherine Killough and had three sons and five daughters. He also raised Catherine's son Isaac Riley as his son.
