Flossie R. Wood, age 92, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, formerly of Greers Ferry, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011, at the Methodist Health and Rehab in Ft. Smith. Born in Heber Springs on January 10, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Epsie P. and Vergie Lee James Reynolds.

Mrs. Wood was a retired school teacher, having taught at Doug Hill, a one room school, at West Side Greers Ferry, and at Sulphur Rock. During her career she taught history, English and was school librarian and senior sponsor. She was an avid quilter and loved crocheting and gardening. She was a faithful member of the West Side Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Recently, she was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Ft. Smith where she sang in the senior choir.

She was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Aron B. Wood. Other family members who preceded her in death include her parents; one son, Aron Wood, Jr.; two brothers, Floyd Reynolds and Sanford Reynolds; and three sisters, Adella Atterberry, Kathryn Pilkington, and Lola Ott.

Mrs. Wood is survived by two sons, Dennis Wood and his wife, Diane, of Ft. Smith and James Arthur Wood and his wife, Kathy, of Wynne; one brother, Jack Reynolds of Hamburg; four grandchildren, Denny Wood and wife, Courtney, Tommy Wood and wife, Audra, Christi McCammon and husband, Clay, and Jim Wood; and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Wood is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Olmstead Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Wally Portmann officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cross Roads Cemetery. Denny Wood, Tommy Wood, Jim Wood, Clay McCammon, Woody Cothren, and Van Cothren will serve as pallbearers.
