SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. — Irene Mary Little Armes, age 91, a resident of Southwest City, Missouri, formerly of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Jan. 28, 2012 with her family at her bedside.

She was born Dec. 1, 1920, to the late William Art Little and Eddie Morning Grigg Little. She was an active member of Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Springdale, until moving to Southwest City 11 years ago where she attended First Baptist Church.

She married Noel Claude Armes on June 12, 1943, in Huntsville, Ark. She is survived by one son Jerry Armes and wife Barbara, of Macclenny, Florida, one daughter Jamie Vancuren and husband Larry, of Southwest City, four grandchildren, Kevin Vancuren and wife, Christen, of Southwest City, Ashley Morrison and husband Gary of Neosho, Mo., Kristen Carr and husband, Wayne, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lisa Larry and husband, Floyd, of Macclenny; six great-grandchildren, Luke Vancuren, Gabe Vancuren, Abri Vancuren, Ross Wilmoth, Stephon Larry and Brooklyn Larry; and a host of other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Noel Armes; a grandson, Cameron Vancuren; three brothers, Doyle Little, Lavoyd Little, and Fred Little; and one sister, Imogene McCarley.

Irene was not afraid of hard work, was an industrious homemaker and always enjoyed her family, gardening, sewing, quilting and fishing. She loved to share the fruits of her gardening with family, friends, and neighbors. During her lifetime, she quilted dozens of quilts, and made other items using the sewing skills she acquired and developed at an early age.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Springdale with Dr. Larry Mitchell, the Rev. Rob Grimm and the Rev. David Watson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Duane Bagwell, Steve Clark, Huey Couch, Cecil Glenn, Steve Harp and Roy Watson.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 3074 S. 48th, Springdale, AR 72762.
