LOVELACE, Malinda E. MORGAN - Mrs. M.E. Lovelace died May 6th at her home three miles north of Rogers at the age of 83 years, one month and three days. She was the daughter of Evan and Elizabeth Morgan who came to Benton county from Illinois about 1836 and settled on Pea Ridge which place was later a part of the Pea Ridge battle field. It has continuously been in possession of the family and is now the home of E.S. Morgan, the youngest and only surviving member of the family. The deceased was born and raised on this farm. During the battle the home was used as a temporary hospital and she cared for the wounded soldiers that wore both the Blue and Gray. She was married to James E. Lovelace November 28, 1869 and to this union were born four children: Mrs. B.A. Jefferson of Pea Ridge; John I. Lovelace and Mrs. R.E. Weaver of near Rogers and Mrs. G.W. Bowman of Beggs, Okla., now deceased. Grandmother Lovelace is survived by three children, fourteen grand children and twelve great grand children, one brother, other relatives and a host of loving friends. She led a devoted christian life for many years, administering to the sick and sympathizing in time of sorrow. Scarcely a home in her reach but can recall some of her noble deeds of by-gone years. She has gone to her reward. May we all emulate her virtues. The funeral was conducted at her home by Rev. Oliver Coons and interment was made in the Rogers cemetery beside her husband who preceded her, passing away September 6th, 1894.
