John Lovelace was born Oct. 28, 1872 in Miami county, Kan. and died March 17, 1927 at his home 3 miles north of Rogers at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 19 days. His parents moved from Kansas to Benton county when he was a small child. They bought the farm on which he died when he was but 3 years old and on which he had lived for more than fifty years. He was married to Miss Dora Osborn in 1901 and to this union 4 children were born. Two died in infancy and 2 are left with the widowed mother to mourn his loss, a daughter, Jewell, and a son, Virgil. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. B.A. Jefferson of Pea Ridge and Mrs. R.E. Weaver of Rogers; also one uncle, Evan Morgan, who lives on Pea Ridge near Elk Horn Tavern, and a large number of other relatives and friends. He united with the Primitive Baptist church of Little Flock in 1901 and lived a consistent and devoted member until called away by death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 20th, at the First Baptist church in Rogers and burial was in the city cemetery. Services were conducted by Elder Willis Osburn. With the exception of a cousin, Lee Wardlaw of St. Louis, the pall bearers were all nephews of Mr. Lovelace - Jim Jefferson, Pea Ridge; Allen Maxwell and Will Sharp, Lowell; Eugene Osborn, Keystone, Okla. and Conner Osborn, Superior, Wyoming. By the death of Mr. Lovelace Benton county and Rogers has lost one of its very best citizens; a man loved by his friends and neighbors for his many splendid virtues and respected by the entire community for the uprightness of his life.

LOVELACE, John - John Lovelace, one of the best known farmers living between Bentonville and Rogers in the Little Flock neighborhood, died last week after an illness of several weeks from tularemia, a peculiar malady. It was acquired when Mr. Lovelace was skinning a rabbit following the heavy snow of the last of February. The disease is not contagious and can only be gotten by handling a diseased rabbit. Mrs. Lovelace also acquired the infection and has a bad hand even at this late date. It is the first case of its kind known here for some time.
