Hilma Lydia Strickland, 89, of Springdale died Dec. 22, 2006, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. She was born April 15, 1917, in Angora, Minn., the daughter of Anton and Selma Alexandra Hautimaki Haavisto.
She was a member of Silent Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was a previous mobile home park manager, played the organ, played Scrabble, enjoyed her dog, enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attended Bible study weekly and wrote letters to many people.
She is survived by her daughter, June Henry and husband Glen of Rogers; one granddaughter, Linda Wisley and husband George; one grandson, David Henry and wife Maria; special foster granddaughter, Sandi Lemke and husband Duane; special grandson, Ibrahima Poda; great-grandchildren Kristen, Luke and his fiancee Aubree, Melody, Lindsay, Maguina, Caroline, Ana and Sam; a host of extended family that call her Grandma; stepchildren, Lee Strickland, Eva Pickering, Fay Rafine, Gary Strickland and David Strickland.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Silent Grove Baptist Church with Pastors Steve Johnson and George Wisley officiating. Burial will follow in Silent Grove Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Springdale.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Henry, Luke Wisley, Sam Lemke, Duane Lemke, Chris Tate and David Strickland.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ibrahima Poda.
