Barbara G. Pitt, 67, of Bella Vista pasted away Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Edwin Sisk officiating.
Barbara was born July 19, 1937 in Waltham, Mass., to William Gilday and Gertrude Suorsa Gilday. After college she worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband, Bill.
Together they started a successful a business in Topeka, Kan., and raised two boys. While in Topeka, Barbara was active in numerous civic and volunteer organizations, such as ABWA, Kansas Personnel Association, Chamber of Commerce and the United Way.
After being diagnosed with cancer, she became involved with the American Cancer Society. Barbara worked tirelessly in supporting other cancer patients through their cure and treatment process.
After retiring in 1997, she and Bill moved to Bella Vista where she continued her volunteer efforts and was president of Been There Inc. and the Cancer Support Home. Barbara enjoyed traveling, visiting with her grandchildren and her good friends.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill Pitt of Bella Vista; two sons, David Pitt and his wife Sheila of Leawood, Kan., Derek Pitt and his wife Karla of Edina, Minn.; six grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob of Leawood, Kan., Alexis, Bailee, Kayla and Andrew of Edina, Minn.
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Her presence touched many lives. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Barbara Pitt, to Been There Inc., 2 Hartfield Lane, Bella Vista, 72714, or to Cancer Support Home, 306 Highway 72 East, Bentonville, 72712.
Cremation and memorial arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.
