BELLA VISTA — Dr. Alfred Carlton Syler, 81, of Bella Vista died Sept. 24, 1995, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. He was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Kirksville, Mo., to Emma and Harrison B. Syler. He was a national director for the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge, past president of the Kansas Osteopathic Medical Association and was a life member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of General Practice. He was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church of Bella Vista. He moved to Bella Vista in March 1992 from Hutchinson, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie Syler, and one son, Dr. Alfred Carlton Syler II.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Terrence Syler of Muskogee, Okla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mercy and Royce Flickinger of Bella Vista, Susan and George Roth of Jerusalem, Israel, and Cynthia and Wade Young of Rogers; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Edwin K. Sisk officiating. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
