HOLLAND, Sarah MOORE - {from Thornsberry} April 19th, at six o'clock in the morning, it pleased God to take from us our dear Grandmother Holland, but while we miss her so much our loss is her gain, for we feel assured she has gone to rest. She lacked just one day of staying here ninety-three years, and was buried on her ninety-third birthday. Revs. Gilmore and Armstrong conducted the funeral services. She leaves three children, twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. A large number of relatives and friends were present at the funeral.

Sarah N. Holland, nee Moore, was born in Irdell County, North Carolina April 20, 1816, died at the home of her son, T.M. Holland, near Thornsberry, February 19, 1909, age 92 years. 11 months and 29 days. Was laid to rest at Thornsberry on her 93rd birthday in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. The writer, assisted by Rev. H.A. Armstrong, a former pastor, officiating. She was married to W.J. Holland in 1840. Two girls and three boys blessed their union. The girls both died in North Carolina and the three sons, Lee, Tom and Henry, are three of our well-known citizens. The family moved to Benton County, Arkansas in 1868 and settled on Lick Branch where she, with her husband, lived until his death occurred February 20 {no year given}. After the death of Brother Holland, Grandma made her home with her son, Henry. She professed religion when but a girl and joined the Methodist Church, in which she lived a consistent Christian for about eighty years. After she got too old and feeble to attend church services she would keep in mind from time to time the days for services and seemed to always be there in spirit. Her last illness was short. The sands of life ran out and she was not, for God took her. Y.A. Gilmore, Pastor.
