Emmie taught in the public schools in Lawrence Co. and Pulaski Co. and later served as a public school principal in Little Rock, Pulaski Co., AR. Census records indicate that Emmie's father was from France and her mother was from Germany. Her sisters were Marie DeNeler Lawson, also a teacher in Little Rock, and Sophie DeNeler Montgomery.
