Everet Wilson Byrd, 73, a retired farmer, died Thursday at his home near Elizabeth. He was a native of this area, and a member of the Davis Chapel Baptist Church.

Mr. Byrd's funeral was held Saturday at Davis Chapel with Rev. Glen (Buck) Williams officiating. Interment was in the Elizabeth Cemetery, with the Leland Carter Funeral Home of Salem in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tom Davis, Owen Duncan, Kenneth Renfro, J.L. Brison, Eldridge Comstock and Ronnie Byrd.

The son of the late Benjamin and Ella Wilson Byrd, Mr. Byrd was born May 8, 1906, at Custer. He and the former Edith Davis were married at Elizabeth Feb. 20, 1926.

Surviving are his wife, of the home near Elizabeth; four sons, Amos Byrd of Salesville, Curtis Byrd and Terry Byrd of Little Rock, and Sam Byrd of Wideman; four daughters, Evelyn Byrd, Nadine Duncan and Betty Brison of Mountain Home, and Pearl Renfro of Independence, Mo.; two half-sisters; a half-brother; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
