Buford A. Clary, 52, a Star City farmer, died early yesterday at the Lincoln Hospital in Star City from an illness of three months. A lifelong resident of Star City, he was born on October 20, 1904, a son of Mrs. Estelle Butler Clary of Star City and the late William Wesley Clary, pioneer Lincoln County residents.
Mr. Clary received his education in the schools of his native city and had been engaged in farming for a number of years.
He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, the former Hittie Smith, survivors include one son, Hulan Clary of Star City; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Dane of Fort Smith; two stepsons, Clyde Smith of Little Rock and John Smith of Monticello; his mother, Mrs. Estelle Clary of Star City; two sisters, Mrs. Fanny Roberts and Mrs. Sue Thomas of Star City; three brothers, Ralph Clary of Memphis and Roy Clary and Edwin Clary of Star City; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Floyd, pastor of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and the Rev. Homer D. Almand, pastor of the South Side Baptist Church of Star City. Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery, near Star City by the Robinson Mortuary.
Active pallbearers will be Buck Blythe, Edd Ratterree, Grover Brockman, Ross McGregor, Auston McGehee and Paul Fullbright, all of Star City. The body was to be at the family residence until service time.
