William Hayden (Bill) Walls, age 73, of Augusta, died Saturday, June 14, 2008. He was born in King Mountain, Kentucky January 25, 1935 a son of the late Jessie Walls and Mary Emrick.
Bill was a "jack of all trades" and could be seen in the area in years past, selling produce and "scrap ironing". He was a very kind-hearted man who would help anyone in need, even if it meant spending his last dollar. He was always smiling and had a gift for making others smile, especially children. He got a kick out of picking and kidding with the many children he helped take care of over the years. He was like a grandpa to many children to numerous to name. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting as long as health permitted.
He is survived by his sons, Jesse Walls (Kitty) of Twin Cities, Mn., Robin Walls of Kensett and Timmy Walls of Pleasant Plains; daughters, Lisa Priest (David) of DeValls Bluff and Christi Harrison (Gary) of Hunter; a long-time, special friend, Mary Ann Keeling of Patterson; brothers, Columbus Walls of Newport, James Walls of North Vernon, IN., Earl Walls of Florida and George Walls of Nashville, In.; sisters, Peggy Gooch of Danville, Ky., Eva "Sis" Johnson of Ashtabula, OH., Louise Walls and Norma Pruitt both of Indianapolis, In.; 13 grandchildren and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles David Walls.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Legacy Hospice of Brinkley for their care and concern.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with Bro. Lee Clark officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Hicks, Lloyd Hicks, Jimmy Hicks, Timmy Miller, B.Q. Creel and Larry Dawson. Interment will follow in Fakes Cemetery at McCrory by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia-Searcy.
