*FAKES CEMETERY

This was at first a small burial plot which was started about 1868 or before. It was located either behind or nearby a home later removed.

In 1909 a plat was made and broken up into lots and recorded at the court house in Augusta. These lots were offered for sale to people who wanted them. This was probably planned a year or two before the plat was surveyed, as we notice a marker is located in this plat with a death date of 1908. It is located on an old road following high ground from DeView through what was Jennys Colony about half a mile south, and leading to the north towards Beedeville. This road was one of the original roads cut out through the woods, most traveled when the earlier settlers located in the community.

Legal description: The North part of the Northeast (NE1/4) Quarter of the Southwest (SW 1/4) Quarter of Section Thirty-four (34) Township Eight (T8N) North, Range Two (R2W) West. To easily find it would be about a mile north and half a mile east of McCrory.

The cemetery markers were listed by Joseph H. Taylor and Lewis Taylor. The unmarked graves have been listed from information furnished by relatives, friends, and funeral home records (listed by Curtis A. Houston).

The listings are broken down into sections: Old Original Plat, Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast parts. The unmarked are not broken down into sections.
