RACKERBY, Mary A. GILKERSON - Mrs. J.H. Rackerby died on Saturday night at eleven o'clock at her home on North Second Street. Her death was caused by an attack of pneumonia and she had been ill about three weeks. The funeral was held on Sunday evening at five o'clock at the M.E. church, of which the deceased was a member. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Metts, assisted by several other pastors of this city. Mrs. Mary A. Rackerby was born on July 3, 1840 in Sullivan county, Indiana and therefore was sixty-one years, two months and twenty-five days old at the time of her death. She was married to Mr. Rackerby on October 7, 1860 at the home of her birth. She came to Rogers with her husband in the spring of 1881, the year the town was first started and has made her home here ever since. She leaves a husband and three children - two sons, James A. and John R., and one daughter, Mary Pearl, all of whom were with her when death came. Her sisters, Mrs. Willis Miller of this city and Mrs. Hartley of Monett and her brother, Kent Gilkerson, were also here. By the death of Mrs. Rackerby Rogers has lost one of its oldest and most respected citizens, the M.E. church has lost one of its most faithful and earnest members and her family have lost a devoted wife and mother. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community.
