Melvin Dale Pistole, 74, of Bentonville died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Lewis Ava Pistole and Wilma Fern Saine Pistole.

He moved to Pea Ridge in 1976 from Charleston, S.C., to make his home. He enjoyed gardening and talking with his children and grandchildren. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a petty officer.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Pistole; and a great-grandson.

Survivors are two sons, Coby Pistole of Bentonville, and Leif Pistole and wife, Tanya, of Hutchinson, Minn.; two daughters, Lavonne Bray and husband, John, of Garfield, and Kristina Allen and husband, Doug, of Rogers; one brother, Mervin Pistole and wife, Reba, of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; one sister, Lois Matous of Salina, Kan.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is set for Friday, Nov. 5, 2 p.m. at Buttram Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday evening at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village, 900 N.E. Verdant, Bentonville, AR 72712.

Full military honors are by the Rogers V.F.W. Post No. 3031

BENTONVILLE — Mary Jane Pistole, 70, of Bentonville died March 12, 2007, at her home. She was born July 21, 1936, in Barnard, Kan., to George W. and Bertha Opal Morris Murray. She attended Kansas State University. She moved to Pea Ridge in 1976 from Charleston, S.C. She managed KOA Campgrounds for seven years and retired from Wal-Mart as a clerk after 22 years. She was a Methodist, a Girl Scout leader and a 30-year member of Beta Alpha and enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 215, Rogers. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Dale Pistole of the home; two sons, Coby Pistole of Bentonville and Leif Pistole of Minneapolis; two daughters, LaVonne Bray and husband John of Garfield and Kristina Allen and husband Doug of Rogers; one brother, George W. Murray of Barnard; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Buttram Chapel Cemetery in Pea Ridge with Rick Booyer officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
