(from Elkins} E.G. Boone, living near Elkins, familiarly known as Ed Boone, died at his home the 27th and was buried in the family graveyard the 28th, funeral services being held by Rev. D.M. Hood. He had typhoid fever and was thought to be in a fair way for recovery when other symptoms of a worse character came up and he died very soon. Mr. Boone was a good citizen and was respected by all. He was but 44 years old and the youngest of four children and his death is the third one among the four. Mrs. Boone, the mother, and the oldest son who live in Alaska, are all that remain of the family left by Benjamin Boone, a Confederate officer who was killed during the civil war. The name Boone seems to be historical in this county. A short distance northwest of Elkins on a farm now owned by Mr. Williams, County Judge elect, stands a brick house said to have been built seventy-five years ago and was owned and occupied by James Boone long before the civil war. James Boone was the grandfather of E.G. Boone.
