George E. Washington, Jr. Of Calico Rock, Arkansas

George E. Washington, Jr., son of the late George E. Washington, Sr. And Annie Stella Jelinek Washington, was born August 5, 1933 in Houston, Texas. He departed this life July 15, 2012 in Calico Rock, Arkansas at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 10 days. In 1981, he was united in marriage to Wilma Sullins. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany for several years. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to work as a mechanic and small appliance repair man. Later he went on to own and operate Washington Auto Parts in Calico Rock. He spent his life as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, provider and friend. He was a member of the Calico Rock VFW. He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Calico Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years: Wilma Washington of the home; two daughters and one son-in-law: Tammy and Danny Branscum of Pineville and Debbie Washington of Brockwell; three stepchildren: David Clinton and wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant, Billy Clinton and wife Darlene of North Little Rock and Mary Honeycutt of Dolph; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Joe and Sue Washington of Wideman, Charlie and Shirley Washington of Brockwell and Andrew Washington of Melbourne; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Georgia and William Norris of Little Rock and Alice and Kennard Dockins of Brockwell; three grandchildren: Jared Branscum of Pineville, Amanda Cottrell of Calico Rock and Ethan Edwards of Mtn. Home; five step grandchildren: Curtis Honeycutt of Mtn. Home, Tyler Honeycutt of Dolph, Chris Clinton, Sara Clinton and Shelby Clinton all of North Little Rock; five great grandchildren; one step great grandchild and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild: Jeremiah Lucas.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Wayne Wood and Tom Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Wild Cherry Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17 from 6-8 pm.

Pallbearers: Warren Sanders, Lance Whiteaker, Walter Boyd, Rick Knowles, Blake Dockins and Howard Jeffery.

Honorary Pallbearers: J. W. Fountain, Gerald McCurley, Dwight Wayland, and Charles Jones.
