Rogers Democrat

A telegram last week brought the sad news of the death of Squire F.M. Liner of near Pea Ridge, who died in a railroad coach September 3d at Cheyenne Wells, Colo. The body arrived the last of the week and the funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o’clock at Buttram’s Chapel on Pea Ridge and were conducted by the Masons. Squire Liner was 73 years old and had lived in Benton county for many years, being one of the most familiar figures in the east end of the county. He visited frequently at the Democrat office and the editors had learned to appreciate and enjoy his keen comment and kindly criticism. Before leaving last spring for his visit with relatives in Colorado and Wyoming, he spent several days here with his daughter, Mrs. Mitchell, on Spring street, and was looking forward with great anticipation to his western trip. He has many relatives in Benton and Madison counties and a host of friends wherever he was known. He was a man of high purpose and integrity and was a devoted Christian. Years ago he was a school teacher and a number of our middle aged citizens remember him as a fine teacher and strict disciplinarian. Such splendid characters as Squire Liner are all too few and we hate to lose them.
