FRESNO, Calif. — Jewell Selah Patton, 90, of Fresno, Calif., died April 5, 2005, at the home of her son in Fresno. She was born Jan. 7, 1915, in rural Winslow to Robert and Anna Reed Pense. She and her husband, J.M. Patton, farmed in Arkansas during the 1930s. They moved to Torrance, Calif. after World War II.

She worked at a cook, hotel attendant, child and elder caregiver.

She was a nursery attendant for over 30 years at the Torrance Church of the Nazarene. She spent a year in Papua, New Guinea, where her son's family served as medical missionaries. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961.

Survivors include a son, Jack Thomas Patton, of Fresno; two daughters, Joyce Ann Gray of Berthoud, Colo., and Nora Sue Dutra of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Lee Pense of Springdale, Donald Pense of Sequim, Wash.; seven grandsons; eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Church of Today in Pea Ridge with Brian Tidwell officiating. Burial will be at Buttram Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the children's care ministries at the Fresno First Church of the Nazarene, 6758 E. Butler Ave., Fresno, 93727.
