*Obituary - Eliza Hyatt Lee, 96, of Little Rock, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Parkway Health Center in Little Rock. A native of Drew County and a resident of Little Rock since 1985, she was educated in the Monticello Public Schools, Randolph Macon College for Women, University of Arkansas Fayetteville and University of Arkansas at Monticello. Her whole adult life was dedicated to education. Her first job as a teacher was in a three room school in Snyder, teaching first through sixth grades. She taught in the Montrose Public Schools, and at the beginning of World War II, moved to Monticello where she had her own private kindergarten. After World War II, she moved to the Lakeside Public School System in Lake Village where she continued teaching first grade children until her retirement in 1968. She was a Southern Baptist and taught the Mary Martha young women's Sunday school class at the Montrose Baptist Church. She was a member of the Parkway Place Baptist Church in Little Rock since 1985.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. R. Hyatt Lee of Little Rock and William Thomas Lee and wife Colby of Pine Bluff; four grandchildren, Michael Scott of San Diego, CA, Bradford Hyatt of Taipei, Taiwan, Diana Elizabeth of Athens, GA, and Katherine Darius of Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Lee in 1985; her parents; Robert and Katherine Wilson Hyatt; eight siblings, David Taylor Hyatt, Margaret Hyatt Allbright, Ethylyn Hyatt Smith, Dr. Ross Wilson Hyatt, Dr. A. J. Hyatt, William Hyatt, Dr. C. Lewis Hyatt and Dr. Robert Fee Hyatt, Jr..
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Monday June 6, in the chapel of Parkway Village in Little Rock with Rev. Alan Greer officiating. A grave-side service and interment were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Snyder Cemetery with Rev. Larry Donaldson officiating and arrangements by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Baptist Home for Children, P.O. Box 427, Monticello, AR 71655.
