Gladys Schell Doke Ross, 98, died Thursday, Oct, 23, 2008. She was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Powell, Mo., to John and Sade Evans Schell.

She grew up and received her education in Powell, Mo., and in Pea Ridge, Ark. For 20 years she was a school cafeteria manager for one of the public schools in Tulsa, Okla. She was a true homemaker who loved to do canning, sewing and quilting for her family. She was a member of Church of Christ, Garfield, Ark.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold Doke and Orin E. Ross; her parents; four brothers, Roscoe, Burl, Ralph and Leon Schell; and two sisters, Lula Mae Schell and Ruth Ross.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Harold Eugene "Gene" Doke and JoNelle of Seligman, Mo.; two stepchildren, Donald Ross and Bonnie Hughes; one sister, Pauline Ruddick of Garfield, Ark.; five grandchildren, Helen Gibson of Tulsa, Okla., Marvin Doke of Seligman, Mo., Vivian Barber of Washburn, Mo., Ruth Henderson of Seligman, Mo. and Patty Hickerson of Knoville, Tenn.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27, at the Buttram Chapel Cemetery in Pea Ridge with Pastor Bobby Vaughn officiating.

Arrangements were by Fohn Funeral Home of Cassville, Mo.
